Theatre of the Oppressed Game Day
Every Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) Game Day is different. We start the process by asking what the participants want out of the day, and then build a flow that responds to the desires and needs of the community assembled. As always, we invite new folk and veterans alike, for folks wanting to try something new, explore something deep, make meaningful connections and get silly. Games are scaffolded to assure that everyone is able to come fully into the process and participate in the ways you want.
What is Theatre of the Oppressed (TO)? Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) is a transformative framework of embodied, creative techniques used worldwide for social and political activism, conflict resolution, community building, therapy, and even shaping government legislation. It challenges us to analyze, question, and explore rather than simply accept or answer. It’s joyful, creative, embodied and helps us better understand ourselves and each other and to imagine and rehearse for future action.
Who is it for? TO is for everyone! You don’t need any prior experience in theatre or acting. Whether you're an activist, artist, mover, shaker, or someone who enjoys meaningful connections, TO welcomes you.
What to Expect:
Collaborative Topic Creation: We'll come together to decide the themes we want to explore for the day.
Games Galore: From silly games that spark laughter to deep, reflective games that provoke thought, there’s something for everyone.
Community Connection: Reflect, discuss, and connect with others in a safe, trust-filled environment.
Why Join? Whether you're new to TO or a seasoned veteran, this event is an opportunity to:
Explore complex topics creatively.
Build meaningful connections.
Step out of your head and into your body.
